Eiffel Tower!

slide 4

Eiffel Tower is a secondary attraction.  It is a great thing to see while in Paris, but not the main reason you would visit France.  The Eiffel tower is definitely a man-made attraction.  This structure could not have formed without human intervention.  It was actually built to be a radio transmitter and tribute to technological innovation.  The life-span of the Eiffel Tower would be classified as permanent.  It is a site attraction as it provides a permanent structure and attracts people to it’s location.  Although it was built to be displayed at a Fair and be temporary.  The Eiffel Tower is publicly owned by the city and therefore classified as public ownership.  As for the culture, I would classify the Eiffel Tower as a historical attraction.  It was made to celebrate a 100 year anniversary of the French Revolution and is now visited by more travelers than any other paid site.  I have some difficulty in classifying the Eiffel tower as a Planned Play Environment since it does not provide for sporting recreations, or gaming and is not a theme park.  It does provide for shopping at the many stores and restaurants near by and the gift shop, but is not a mall.  As for events, the Eiffel Tower has been the home to stunts, but not really regular events. I would say that it is more an industrial attraction as people come to see the architecture and walk through it’s intricate building.  Elevators take tourists to the top for extraordinary views of the city below, and of the lights in the evening.
